What Is Argan Oil?

Argan oil is obtained from the kernels of the fruit of the argan tree (Argania spinosa). Large quantities of fruit are needed for one litre of oil, and the kernels are laboriously cracked by hand. Cold pressing preserves the natural properties of the oil as well as possible.

Argan Oil for Hair

A few drops of argan oil for hair are all you need: warm them between your palms and work them into lengths and ends. It gives dry, stressed hair noticeable softness and natural shine and makes combing easier.

• As a finish: 1–3 drops on dry or towel-dried ends
• As a treatment: apply generously to lengths and ends, leave for 30 minutes or overnight, then wash out
• Before blow-drying: a few drops on the ends for a smooth result

Argan Oil for Face & Skin

As an argan oil for face care, apply 1–2 drops to cleansed skin in the evening or mix into your moisturiser. It is also great for hands, cuticles, elbows, feet and dry patches – and many men use it as a beard oil.

Origin

The argan tree grows almost exclusively in south-western Morocco. Extracting the oil from its kernels is labour-intensive, which is why pure argan oil is considered one of the most precious plant oils in the world.
